More books have been published on the subject of anointing during the last two decades than during the preceding two thousand years. God is giving more revelations about “the anointing of the Holy Spirit”, in the end times in which we are living, than ever before. We are now able to comprehend these new revelations because we are also able to receive and experience this anointing in a greater measure.
As prophesied by the prophet Joel, God is pouring out His spirit upon all flesh in these last days. What is now happening all over the world is something historic and unprecedented. On the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came like a rushing mighty wind, all the believers who had gathered in the upper room were filled with the Holy Spirit. Again, according to historical records, at the turn of the century, the Holy Spirit was poured upon a group of people in Azusa Street, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., and since then, the Holy Spirit has been poured upon masses of people everywhere. We are now living in the time of latter rain, which is mentioned, in the second chapter of the book of Joel. The intensity and the magnitude of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit has been increasing rapidly during this decade. As such, it is necessary to equip more believers to play a key role in the end time harvest.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit empowers the believers to be witnesses to the whole world, and to do the very works that Yahushua did. Yahushua said in John 14:12, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father”. In order to understand what anointing is all about, in a wider sense, in the context of what the Lord is doing in this day and age in which we are living, we should trace this word both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament, and study closely the present day experience on the basis of the Word of God.
